My partner Debbie and I first approached Fredericks Foundation at the end of 2007 with a business plan proposing our company Tropical Fresh. After years of unemployment and a new baby we wanted to try and start up our own business selling a variety of Caribbean food. We needed financial assistance that would allow us to hold focus groups and research our market place before we could even consider launching the business. Fredericks kindly granted us £250 for this purpose, without this we would not have been able to obtain the information we so desperately required. Not only did they grant us the funds, but they also offered invaluable advice and support.
Our second encounter with Fredericks was after 6 months of trading. We
had tested the potential of our products within the retail sector and had an excellent response which was reflected in customer feedback and in sales. We then applied, successfully, for further funding from Fredericks Foundation that would allow us to develop the business and take it to the next level. We are continuing to trade well and have launched new products within our range.
With absolutely no chance of obtaining finance from any financial institution or family, Fredericks has helped us achieve our dreams in starting up what
looks to be a successful business venture. Not only did they help us financially but they continue to support us and are always on the other end of the phone if and when we need their advice.
June 2009: Following an expansion loan from Fredericks, Conrad and Debbie are now preparing to take the next big step as they plan to move into a specialist unit. This will enable them to increase their production, employ the necessary sales and production staff and ultimately broaden their client base. Visit their website at www.tropicalfresh.co.uk
