CNBC European Business Leader Awards, Philanthropist of the Year 2009

From a prestigious short-list of three, including Sir Richard Branson, Paul Barry-Walsh, Chairman of Fredericks Foundation was chosen as the winner of the Philanthropist of the Year Award for 2009.

The CNBC European Business Leaders Awards (EBLA) recognise and honour the most outstanding executive leaders in Europe today. CNBC, in partnership with the Financial Times and with the support of chief executives from Europe’s top-ranked companies, acknowledges Europe’s most influential CEOs. Now in its sixth year, the Awards have become one of the most prestigious in the business world.

The nominee for Philanthropist of the Year is a European business leader who, through their vision, leadership and commitment, and while making a significant contribution and financial impact, is making a considerable difference through their support of voluntary organisations, communities, causes or society.
