Taskher
Equal opportunities for Tradeswomen
Taskher have built a community of highly skilled, pre vetted, professional tradeswomen. Through their platform customers can get an instant quote and book online for jobs including plumbing, electrical work, heating and gas, painting and decorating – at a date and time convenient to them. By joining Taskher tradeswomen benefit from a regular pipeline of customers, fair rates of pay and a supportive community exchanging advice and mentoring as well as events and discounts.
How Taskher makes an impact
By supporting women into trades and raising the profile of women in trade Taskher is contributing to a reduction in the gender pay gap. Currently less than 1% of tradespeople are female. Their research shows
- Women miss out on £750K+ of lifetime earnings by being socially
conditioned into ‘female’ apprenticeships & away from skilled trades. - Tradeswomen are underpaid by over £7k/ annum compared to their male
- Taskher tradeswomen earn on average over 200% more than women in their local area
Working with schools and through profile raising PR they are making tradeswomen visible and the job aspirational.
Where Fredericks comes in
Taskher needed funding to support growth to the point at which the organisation will reach breakeven. Fredericks invested £50,000 through a Revenue Participation Agreement, alongside equity from angel investors, Resolution Foundation and Trust for London.
